It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights

I am declaring today the official ‘Day of the Muppet’.

After a night of crazy-paved sleep*, my bus to work this morning was packed with 20-somethings wearing those faux-fur gilet jacket thingies that seem to be all the rage at the moment. I can’t be the only person who looks at those things (particularly the multi-coloured tufty efforts) and things ‘heh, mouse-pelts’…

Since arriving at work I have been deluged with non-emergency but urgent SNAFUs, all of which would have been easily avoidable had the people now rushing around yarping about them only pulled their respective thumbs out of their backsides three months ago when asked to, or read the paperwork thoroughly before signing up for things. It’s hard to work with people who should be very highly respectable medics, academics or financiers when the only mental image you can conjure up while talking to them in very little words is this one:

*’Broken’ seems a wholly insufficient way of describing a night’s sleep that consisted of more nose-wiping and toddler-comforting than actual rest
