They must really like him...
I mentioned the other day that, contractually, I have to return to work for three months after my maternity leave finishes. The alternative would be to repay my employer for the maternity pay that they gave me over and above the statutory maternity pay amount which in my case comes to over £2500.
Husbeast talked to his HR manager last week about our plan for him to take the unpaid 3 months of my statutory maternity allowance in order for me to return to work for the necessary 3 months without us having to leave the little'un in childcare for 12 hours a day. She completely understands why we would be considering it, but after discussing the logistics of it with the MD, they have come up with an alternative suggestion.
The MD has suggested that they could simply repay my employer for us and keep husbeast where he is for those three months.
That's right - they are seriously considering essentially giving us £2500+ as an alternative to saving the husbeast's salary for 3 months but having another member of staff act up to stand in for him.
Wow. They must really like him.
Even if they decide not to do this, and that they'd rather give him the 3 months off unpaid, I'm unbelievably touched and impressed that they would even consider helping us\him out like this.
There are some damned good people in this world.
